How to choose the right wedding photographer
I share what I have learned from years of photographing and what helps couples make a confident choice.
Choosing a photographer often feels harder than expected. You want someone you trust, who understands your day, and whose photos feel honest. That’s why you should start by looking at full wedding galleries, not just highlight reels. A full story shows how the photographer works from morning to evening, how they handle shifting light, fast moments, and real pressure.
When you scan these galleries, pay close attention to how the images make you feel. If they feel warm and natural, if expressions, movement, and interactions look genuine, then you’re seeing someone who cares more about truth than polish. Study how people stand, how they move, how smiles form and fade. These small signs tell you more than perfect lighting or over-styled poses.
Connection matters too. A photographer will spend much of your wedding day beside you, so comfort and trust count as much as technique. A short call or meeting before booking helps you sense if the person fits your vibe. Clear answers about logistics, timelines, and photo delivery give you space to relax and trust the process.
You might think a photographer needs to be local, but what counts most is their ability to adapt and tell your story no matter where you marry. Even though I haven't photographed many weddings across France yet, I bring experience and a vision that fits many places. For couples coming from abroad or planning a wedding in a quiet vineyard or an old building, I aim to blend into the day and capture moments without adding pressure.
Think about how you want to remember your day. The joy, the small touches, the people around you. When you trust the photographer, you give yourself the freedom to live those moments, and that’s when photos stop being pictures and start becoming memories.
